Ataç Imamoglu is one of the leaders in quantum optics and condensed matter physics.  He got his PhD at Stanford University in 1991 and joined the faculty of UC Santa Barbara in 1993. In 2002, he moved to ETH Zurich as a Professor of Physics. He is the head of Quantum Photonic Group at ETH Zurich. In his tallk, he will present an overview of new electronic and magnetic phenomena that emerges in two-dimensional materials.
